 About the Library
Collections

The library's collection consists of approximately 800,000 volumes, and we add about 16,000 volumes each year. We maintain over 3,000 current periodical subscriptions, many of which are electronic journals. We have a collection of over two million microforms, many of which are stored in the Multimedia Collection. Many newspaper and journal backfiles, as well as large microform research collections are available in microfilm roll, microfiche, or microprint formats. We have a growing collection of music CDs and movie DVDs available for checkout. The library is a depository for Federal, State and European Union Documents and also has an extensive Louisiana & Special Collections Department with a wide variety of materials of local interest. In an effort to provide students and faculty with current information, the library also subscribes to a wide selection of Electronic Resources. These versatile databases contain both bibliographic citations and full-text items, and many are available both on and off campus.
