Available: Immediately SYSTEMS LIBRARIAN
RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides leadership for the planning, support, and utilization of the library’s ILS and electronic resources, as a member of the Technology Department, and serves as the library’s liaison to LOUIS, the Louisiana Library Network consortium and other information technology partners.Works with Sirsi Team to manage the functions and upgrades of the library’s integrated library system; Serves on appropriate teams to facilitate the use of the ILS and technology in the library; Implements new technologies to improve library workflow and benefit all library users; May serve as a subject specialist and liaison to designated academic departments; Collaborates with the Services, Resources, and the Special Collections Departments, as well as University Computing, on matters of mutual interest and responsibility; Works with and participates as appropriate on other teams and committees at the department, library, and university level and within the profession REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited MLS degree; Minimum of 2 years of recent experience managing and administering library systems, including a major integrated library system. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both orally and in writing; Ability to meet the requirements of promotion and tenure for the LSU system. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience administering a SirsiDynix library system; Background in computer science or a related field; Demonstrated knowledge of emerging library 2.0 technologies; Demonstrated knowledge of relevant programming languages including Visual Basic. Knowledge of ASP.NET, PHP, SQL, HTML, CSS, and javascript; Experience in collection development and instruction; Experience working in a team environment; Experience working with vendors and consortia. SALARY: Tenure-track 12 month academic faculty position at Assistant Librarian rank. Salary: $45,000 plus benefits.
