Purpose The collection supports present and anticipated teaching and research in the fields of Civil and Environmental Engineering. At present, the central focus of the department and chief interests of the faculty are encompassed in the following areas of teaching and research: Geotechnical Engineering, Waste Management & Surveying, Wetland function, Urban and Rural Hydrology, Surface and Groundwater Hydraulics, Design of Steel and Concrete structures, Computational Fluid Mechanics, Wastewater treatment, Mechanics of Materials, Environmental/Industrial Hygiene, Air Quality Management, Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Management Systems (EMS), : hydro geology, transportation and systems engineering, construction engineering, and water resources. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering and supports an M.S. degree in Engineering and Ph.D. in Engineering and Applied Science. In addition to the support for the specific degree programs of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, the collection also serves as a resource for undergraduate and graduate students and faculty in other disciplines. Related colleges, departments, and programs which cover subjects of interest to civil and environmental engineering include Geology and Geophysics, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics and NAME.
