Engineering Collection Development Policy

Purpose The collection supports present and anticipated teaching and research in the field of Mechanical Engineering. At present, the central focus of the department and chief interests of the faculty are encompassed in the following areas of teaching and research: fluid mechanics, machine design, energy engineering, engineering aspects of thermodynamics, materials engineering, solid mechanics, vibrations, controls, robotics, composites, ocean and coastal engineering, and oil production and exploration. The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and supports an M.S. degree in Engineering and a Ph.D. in Engineering and Applied Science. In addition to the support for the specific degree programs of the Mechanical Engineering Department, the collection also serves as a resource for undergraduate and graduate students and faculty in other disciplines. Related colleges, departments, and programs which cover subjects of interest to mechanical engineering include Physics, Civil Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management and NAME.
