Restaurant & Tourism Collection Policy

Purpose The collection supports present and anticipated teaching and research in the field of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism and its sub-disciplines. At present, the central focus of the department and the chief interests of the faculty are encompassed in the following areas of teaching and research: travel; tourism; hotel and restaurant facilities, layout, operation and maintenance; hospitality industry accounting; computers; management information systems; law; human resources and planning; food service operations; food preparation and production management; management of beverage services, convention centers, clubs; meeting and convention planning, and casino gaming. The department offers a B.S. in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Administration as well as a minor in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Administration at the undergraduate level. The department also offers a Master of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management degree and a HRT concentration within the College of Business's MBA program. In addition to the support for the specific degree program of the Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Department, the collection also serves as a resource for undergraduate and graduate students and faculty in the other business disciplines.
