Naval
Architecture and Marine Engineering Collection Policy

Purpose The collection supports present and anticipated teaching and research in the fields of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. At present, the central focus of the department and chief interests of the faculty are encompassed in the following areas of teaching and research: construction, strength and design of offshore structures and ships, numerical methods, marine materials and admiralty law, form calculations and stability, ship resistance and propulsion, ship dynamics, small craft design, hydrodynamics, computer-aided design, and ship production by IPPD methods. The Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering offers a B.S. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and supports an M.S. degree in Engineering and a Ph.D. in Engineering and Applied Science. In addition to the support for the specific degree programs of the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Department, the collection also serves as a resource for undergraduate and graduate students and faculty in other disciplines. Related colleges, departments, and programs which cover subjects of interest to civil and environmental engineering include Physics, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering.
