Scripts/Screenplays
The library buys screenplays on a regular basis, and you can search our catalog to look for a particular title or to see a list of all the screenplays we own. To search the UNO Catalog simply type in the movie's title, or use the keyword "screenplay" (or the more traditional "motion picture plays"). By doing a keyword search you will get references to actual screenplays as well as books about screenplays. If you don't find a title you are looking for in our library, you can request it through Interlibrary Loan (you must have complete publication information), and we can probably borrow a copy for you from another library. You can also try these Internet sites for a specific screenplay or for more information about screenwritng:

You can search for a particular title or type keyword "screenplay" to get a list of titles.
- American Film Scripts Online
This database includes several hundred scripts along with detailed information on the scenes, characters and people related to the scripts. In addition, the database includes over 430 original images of previously unpublished screenplays. Titles in this database are included in and linked from the library's online catalog.
- The Daily Script
This site includes a database of major screenplays as well as other information about screenwriting and scripts.
- Yahoo Screenplays Page
This site provides links to collections of screenplays, movie monologues, and more.
- Reviews/Criticism of Films
For "recent" films (last 10-20 years or so) you can use these library indexes to look up movie reviews published in the popular media (in some cases the review will be available directly from the database) Typing in key words from the title and the words "movie reviews" will usually bring up a list of references. Example: "pulp fiction and movie reviews"
- Academic Search Premier
This database indexes and provides some full-text articles for a variety of popular and scholarly journals and magazines.
- Film & Television Literature Index
This definitive index to film and television topics indexes several hundred journals, with some full-text available. The database has been designed for use by a diverse audience that includes film scholars, college students, and general viewers.
- Art Abstracts
This database indexes and provides some full-text coverage for about 25 major film journals.
- Arts & Sports News (from Lexis Nexis Academic)
Coverage: Full-text book, movie, play and music reviews from a range of magazine and newspapers sources (including the New York Times.) Chronological coverage for specific publications varies, but is generally limited to the last 5-10 years. Select "Arts & Sports News" from the News Category pull-down menu.
- General News (from Lexis Nexis Academic)
Coverage: Major U.S. & international newspapers, magazines, newsletters & journals Chronological coverage for specific publications varies, but is generally limited to the last 5-10 years. Select "General News " from the News Category pull-down menu.
- New York Times Historical
This database offers full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue. Excludes the latest three years of publication.
