    This allows you to search a giant combined database of library catalogs worldwide. See the web page on library catalogs for links to catalogs of specific libraries.
  • Oxford English Dictionary
    This historical dictionary covers words from across the English-speaking world, providing etymological analysis, listings of variant spellings, pronunciation, and tracing usage in a wide array of English-language sources. This web-based version contains the complete contents of the 20-volume print Second Edition and the 3 volumes of Additions. It also contains quarterly updates and revisions, as part of an ongoing effort to revise the entire publication.
  • Literature Resource Center
    This online collection of literary resources includes biographical information on authors, bibliographies, critical excerpts, and links to selected freely-available internet resources.
  • Non-English Language News (from Lexis-Nexis News)
    This allows you to search and view the full-text of articles from Dutch, French, Spanish, German, and Italian language news sources, in the original language. Select "Non-English Language News" from News Category pull-down menu.
  • MLA Directory of Periodicals
    This publicaton provides information about 1500 periodical and serial publications in the humanties. Entries include contact information, rules for manuscript submission, availability, descriptions of scope, subscription prices, and more.

  • Merriam-Webster Encyclopedia of Literature
    This resource contains entries for authors, works, literary landmarks, literary and critical terms, mythological and folkloric figures, fictional characters, literary movements and prizes, and more.
  • Compendium of the World's Languages
    REF. P371 .C36 2000 Alphabetically-arranged entries include an overview of each language as well as a discussion and examples of script, phonology and syntax. 2 vols.
  • Dictionary of Languages
    REF. P371 .D35 1998 Each entry includes a history of the language, and number of speakers. Many entries also offer maps, script samples, analysis of English influence, and more.
  • Routledge Encyclopedia of Language Teaching and Learning
    REF. P51 .R66 2000 This work "provides an authoritative account of the discipline of language teaching in all its compexity," including entries on the teaching of specific languages, methods and theoretical approaches, and specific individuals, and institutions. Alphabetically-arranged entries range in length from a few lines to over 3,000 words. Thematic and keyword indexes are also provided.

  • Arts & Humanities Citation Index (in Web of Science)
    Coverage: indexes over 1100 of the world's leading arts and humanities journals, as well as individually selected, relevant items from over 6,800 major science and social science journals. Can be combined with other Web of Science citation indexes (Social Sciences, Sciences) for an even broader search.

  • Dissertation Abstracts
    Coverage: indexes dissertations accepted for doctoral degrees by accredited North American educational insitutions and more than 200 institutions elsewhere; some coverage of Masters degrees.
