A short history of UNO's beginnings

The leasing of the land to LSU for the creation of a "commuter college" was not undertaken without controversy. Orleans Levee Board president Louis Roussel, and other detractors, were summarily fired by Governor Earl K. Long and replace with members in agreement with the plan.
