Historical Note
This collection contains financial
statements and audit reports pertaining to Louisiana parishes, cities, and towns, and
their agencies. Why it was formed and
how it came to reside at the Earl K. Long Library are not known. Internal evidence suggests that the materials
were assembled by Rae Logan, an employee of an accounting firm, possibly Cox,
Huppenbauer, & Osborne.
When found in the Louisiana
Collection, the materials were divided into two groups, one pertaining to Louisiana parishes and the other to towns and cities, all
but a few of them in Louisiana. In Special Collections, to which the
materials were transferred in 1998, that division has been preserved, with
alphabetical subdivision according to the name of the parish, town, or city,
and then according to the main entry.
Further subdivision usually is chronological.
